BREAKING THE CYCLE

Every child deserves to grow up feeling safe.

Omena means “to give” in Malagasy. We provide children, families, and communities with the emotional skills to build healthier relationships before emotional pain becomes trauma – starting in Madagascar.

OUR PROGRAMS

77% of children in Madagascar experience emotional abuse.

Yet most systems focus on responding after violence has already happened.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) helps children understand emotions, build healthy relationships, solve problems, and make responsible decisions.

At Omena, it's the foundation of our prevention model. When emotional skills aren't taught, verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse can become part of everyday life. Those patterns are often passed from one generation to the next.

We believe prevention starts earlier. That's why Omena helps children, families, and communities build emotional skills before violence escalates.

Together, we can help the next generation inherit emotional safety instead of emotional pain.
